George went to France 23rd November 1914 as part of a joint offensive with the French; the Battle of Festubert was judged a partial success but problems with munitions opened the great "Shell Scandal". The ‘Shell Scandal’ was reported in the Times newspaper as a barrier to British success. Killed in action 16th May 1915 at Richebourg L'Avone.
