The Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum offered to have the exhibition at the museum between the 19th October & 30th November 2018 & wrote on their Facebook page “New exhibit put together by Marlborough School now open, a perfect companion to Oxfordshire Remembers commemorating the Great War Centenary” They were very welcoming and encouraging and surprised at how big the exhibition was. There were two parts to the exhibition. The Legacy 110 project Woodstock Remembers WW1 Then and Now which included details about all 44 soldiers who are listed on the War Memorial and a second project which was led by Alice & Isabel with a small team of students with information about Woodstock in WW1 for Oxfordshire Remembers part of the Royal British legion Thank you campaign.
The Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum opened free of charge on Remembrance Sunday, an initiative put forward by the students and funded by Oxfordshire County Council after approaching Ian Hudspeth. We would like to thank him for his support. Nearly 300 visitors took advantage of the free entry to visit the museum which greatly exceeded expectations with 40% children. It changed the perceptions of many visitors who had previously thought it wasn’t for them. It is full of hand on experiences for all ages with information about several conflicts. Visit Blood and War, Life on the Front Line or take a trip through the trenches.
